Michael Connelly began his career as a journalist in Los Angeles, which provided plenty of source material for a burgeoning crime writer. His first novel, Black Echo, was published in 1992 and won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel from the Mystery Writers of America. Since then he has published eighteen other novels, most featuring his iconoclastic detective, Hieronymus Bosch. His books have won every major mystery award and have been #1 NY Times bestsellers.
