Timothy Egan won the 2006 National Book Award for The Worst Hard Time, his portrait of the great dust bowl. The Big Burn paints a vivid picture of a ferocious wildfire and the ensuing founding of the National Parks. A columnist for the New York Times, Mr. Egan lives in Washing State.
