Avis Adams

Avis M. Adams was born in Puyallup, Washington. She is native to the Pacific Northwest and fosters a deep appreciation for the state and national parks and the local history of the Puget Sound region, which features in her writing. She earned an MA in English Literature from Central Washington University, while raising her son and daughter. She currently teaches English at a Green River College, and she speaks at writing conferences on writing craft in the Puget Sound area. She also writes picture books and YA novels, coming to booksellers soon. She has one book of poetry, Quilcene.

C.H. Brown’s poetry has been published in Oakwood, the literary magazine of South Dakota State University.

She was a runner-up in the 2016 Flash Fiction / Prose Poetry Contest of The Offbeat, a literary journal of Michigan State University for her story, The Secret Language of Moles.

In April 2018, her story The Kiska Tablet, was published in Havok Magazine, a flash fiction magazine specializing in speculative genres.

In Spring 2018, her story Making Lemonade appeared in 2 Elizabeths’ print anthology, Love and Romance.

In 2018, her short story, Paradoxical Timing, placed 10th in Writer’s Digest’s Annual Writing Competition in the Genre Short Story Category.

In spring of 2019, her short story, Super Heroes, appeared in The Veggie Wagon Journal.

C.H. Brown is the photography coordinator and contributor to the Facebook page for “A Lamb is Born, and Other Poems.” Her photography and devotionals will be featured in an upcoming book.

She is a member of the Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association and The Flamingos Writing Group. She was also a member of the launch team for best-selling author Carol Tuttle’s Mastering Affluence.

She works professionally as a pharmacist, and has an extensive background researching and writing formulary drug monographs. She has been published in a professional pharmacy textbook, The Clinical Practice of Drug Information, and she has several published articles in the medical literature.

C.H. Brown is working on the first novel in a fantasy series for young adults. It is titled “The Appearance of Power.”

She lives in the Seattle area with her husband and her cat, whom she assists in managing his popular social media account on the Petzbe app.

Melanie MacDonald

Melanie MacDonald worked 25 years as a criminal defense attorney specializing in the representation of violent female offenders. Now retired, she spends her time traveling to places that require malaria tablets and writes mysteries about women who kill and the men who love them.
