And there are books that I've written and others had to tell me what they were about. Nice piece, Bill.

I agree completely Terry. And how did you log in? So many of my readers can't seem to figure out how to log in.

Love this, Bill. I think it's a healthy way to look at the bad reviews and rejections we get no matter where they come from or what they're about. As writers we put so much faith in the judgement of others (agents, editors, readers) that we forget that we are allowed to write whatever it is we want to write and in whatever way we wish to write it. With poetry there is much less chance for large numbers of readers who get to choose whether you write well or not. Plus, you don't typically get paid well for poetry anyway. That means that your creative options are open. If we could think the same way about novels and short stories, we'd be in much better spirits more often.

Great post, Bill. Very insightful and lots of fun to read. Starting out with conflict, the way you did, lead me to the article's link. Nice.

Davida:

My motto is this: What it takes to write the book you most want to write, is also what it takes to lead the life you most want to lead. So you've hit it right on the head, haven't you? Thanks for reading and for sharing.

Your posts have a certain insight and depth that make it easy for your reader to empathize and identify with your writing. Truly refreshing. One of the things that I love most is that these wonderful insights always connect life experiences and the writing process. I look forward to seeing what you come up with tomorrow.

Davida:

I'm so glad you liked it. I feel that everyone's time is quite valuable, and that if they're going to spend it with me, I ought to be give them my very best.

Thanks,,

Bill

This is beautiful. I truly enjoy and look forward to reading your entries. I have become increasingly selective as to where I want to spend my time reading posts. Your writing is always worth reading. Thank you for sharing your insights.
