Tamora Pierce
began her writing career at a New York literary agency, though she
didn’t stay long. Having learned the publishing ropes from the
inside she wrote a fantasy novel with a young female protagonist—not
something often found in early 1980’s. In 1983 her first novel,
Allanna: The First Adventure, was published, and since
1992 she has been making her living exclusively as a novelist. She
has published over 15 novels and is a much beloved inventor of that
now very popular genre: YA Fantasy.
