Rebecca Stead’s second and most recent YA novel, When You Reach Me, won the 2010 Newberry Medal. A former lawyer, Rebecca wrote her first children’s novel after her four year-old son pushed her laptop off a table, destroying all the “serious” short stories she had been writing. Some things truly do work out for the best.
